The first Monday back

The kids were on spring break this past week.  I anticipated slow wake ups with alarms this morning.  As I walked into Carter’s room this morning (his alarm had been going off for 15 minutes) the most appropriate song was playing for this first day back after Spring Break!

Monday, Monday by the Mamas and Papas

It was on this verse:

Monday, Monday cant’ trust this day

A good giggle to start off my Monday morning!

We had lots of fun with grandma, Aunt Chelle, and Bayleigh J.  This is one of the pictures I took of the girls at the park!  Here are a couple of pictures I took of the girls at the park (Carter opted to go video game shopping with dad).  I’ll let you pick your favorite!

Some of Carter’s writing

His teacher started out with a prompt and then they had to write 5 sentences.  Here goes, with his spelling and all.

When I am 100 years old I will be dead.

I will have white hair.

I will walk with a cane.

I will be marid (married) 5 times.

I will not drive a car.

Too comical!

Some silliness by the newest 7 year old in our house!  For now, you’ll have to wait on the birthday update until later in the week——— we’re off to play —————-

Happy Birthday Mr. Carter

My sweet Mr. Carter,

As I reflect on the wee hours of the morning when you made your entrance into this world……..you rocked my world.  I was in awe of the fact that I had a son and in awe of how was I going to be a mommy to a little boy……  You were the sweetest, most laid back baby.  As a baby you loved your thumb and it had to be the right thumb.  While sucking your thumb you craftily worked the smooth, silky edge of your blankie with your left hand.  You loved to lay on the floor and play.  You loved your bed.  You thought Shealyn was the funniest thing you had ever seen.  You had a giggle that started at the toes.  And today, you my baby boy are 7!  When did that happen?

As I’ve watched you evolve this year I’ve seen so many changes in you.  You are a confident, goal oriented boy.  You are passionate about reading!  You make friends easily.  You are a sponge for any kind of knowledge.  You are analytical and literal.  You have developed a love for sports and a strong dislike for losing.  You love watching almost any sport with daddy on TV.   You are a great snuggler.  You are not afraid to give your mom a kiss or hug in front of friends.  You are a chatterbox.  You love video games.  I like to tell you you’re either going to turn into a honey nut cheerio or strawberry.  Along with the 2 previous mentioned foods some of your other favorites are hamburgers, waffles, peanut butter and honey sandwiches, BBQ ribs, tacos and meatloaf.  You are not at all fond of chicken, green beans, or potatoes….not even french fries.  You have the armpit fart down to a science….sigh!  You are so many things, but more than anything you are my FAVORITE 7 YEAR OLD IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!

Happy Birthday little man.

Kids Say the Darndest Things

Actually this is more like the sweetest things…….you know, those moments that steal your heart and make you go awwwww.

First, you must picture those mornings you wake up and the sun is trying will all its might to peek through the clouds and succeeds.  When it kind of looks like sun rays showers………………

We’ve had a few days like that and the kids and I have discussed what we think it looks like.

So……………as we’re off to school one day this week Payton is desperately trying to get my attention from the back of the van over the sound of the radio and Shealyn and Carter.  When I realize she’s trying to tell me something I turned down the radio and ssshhhhhddddd the 2 older ones.  And she says, “look momma, it’s showers from heaven.”

Yes my baby girl it is……………….how perfectly appropriate :o )

When I Wish Upon……..

a wishbone, makes no difference where you are……………

Hmmm……Payton and Clark broke a wishbone the other night and P’s wish was for Bayleigh J. to come see her in Texas!  Okay, insert a little prompting from mom on the wish.  But, what this little girl doesn’t know is her wish WILL come true in days!!!

And, speaking of wishes……..we’re sending birthday wishes to Shauna today!

A tribute to Sister

I”ve been wanting to post this forever and never have taken the time.  This is a story Shealyn wrote over a year ago as a 2nd grader about my dad’s dog, Sister.  It seems totally relevant today since it is the 2nd anniversary today of her passing (don’t ask me why I remember, I’m just good with dates).  The lesson for the day was a BIG FEELING ENDING…………..so here is her story in her words, punctuation, grammar and spelling :o )

Sister

My grandpa’s dog Sister was a big, yellow lab.  She was a very good dog she didn’t need a collar.  When Sister would go somewhere Sister would come back.  Then one day when my faimly was there Sister walked in and she was limping.  then my grandpa said “come here Sister.”   Then on Saturday my grandpa took Sister to the vet so they could fiuger out the problem but they couldn’ t fiuger out the problem so they went out to grandpa and said “do you want to put her down”  but grandpa didn’t want them to but he had no chocie and he said “yes”, so they put her down then grandpa called my mom and he said nothing to my mom so he handed the phone to Vingery (Virginia) and she said “hey put Sister down.”   Then mom came out to get a tissue.  I felt very sad inside that Sister died.

I miss Sister.  But she’s still in my heart.  I will never forget that day.  I still have a picture of Sister and me.  I’m petting her in the picture.  My dad misses Sister to because he loved her very much.  Sister was my buddy because she liked me very much and I loved her very much too.

Best Shot Monday

I took this one back in December, but shortly after started having my computer trouble.  Anyway, it goes back to when my brother and family were here.  It’s a picture of Haylee Maye and Payton within minutes of them getting to the house.

Hmmmm….what should I call them?
