It’s been accepted

The offer we made on the house was accepted today so provided nothing falls through it could be ours in 30 days.  Here are some pics from the outside—I’ll have to work on some inside ones.  It’s a 4 bedroom with 2.5 baths and almost 2800 square feet.  All bedrooms are upstairs with formal dining, living and kitchen downstairs.

Well…….

we made an offer on a house tonight.  We looked at 5 houses last night and Clark and I eliminated 2 and ranked the remaining 3 very differently.  However, today brought better results.  We met with the realtor at lunch today and looked at a house in Argyle, which was Clark’s choice of ISD and a very sought after ISD.  After looking at that one we then went on our own to look at a couple of spec homes.  I fell in love with one :o )  Clark went back to work and contacted the realtor to look at some more this evening.  So, I met him and we went and looked at 3 more, but I very much had the feeling that they wouldn’t quite strike my fancy like the one earlier in the day had.  I was right.  So, we went with our realtor and had him working on our behalf and went and looked at this house again.  After a short deliberation Clark and I decided to make an offer.

Any of you that know me well know that negotiating is a very uncomfortable task for me so THANK GOD for Clark.  He and our realtor did all the talking.  To me it’s so nerve racking to make an offer and think we might insult the owner (or the builder in this case).  I was so proud of Clark.  As much as I think his incessant research is pointless it so WAS NOT the case tonight.  He knew what number he wanted to go with and we rounded it up to the nearest hundred and after the seller crunched all his numbers and both realtors gave a little.  Clark’s original number was the one the realtor came back to.  GO CLARK!!  I better think twice the next time I want to question the time you spend on the computer researching this stuff!   We will know in the morning whether our offer was accepted and could close within 30 days if not sooner.  Whew, a lot of excitement and anxiety flowing through these veins right now!

Oh, by the way, this happens to be a house the kids went and viewed with us and they give their seal of approval with the exception the yard’s not as big as Carter would like and Shealyn thinks she should get the master bedroom!  We can’t have it all, right?

Here in Texas

A big howdy to y’all!  We’re here and enjoying the time together not to mention the nice weather.  We got in early Saturday morning and all of us got a little sun kissed!  The kids and I have been enjoying the WARM, fresh air.  Clark and I went out to celebrate a friend’s wife’s 40th birthday Saturday night, which was fun!  I ask everyone I meet about school districts and which ones they would recommend.  I’m getting conflicting reports:o(  We’ll figure it out!

Today was Easter and let me tell you it was interesting to have the Bunny visit and hide baskets and eggs in a 300 square foot, 1 bedroom cabin:o)  But, she managed and all was grand!  The Bunny was hiding eggs at 7 am this morning around a sleeping boy.   The girls spent the night with Grandpa and Grandma.  We then went to our aunt and uncle’s house for Easter dinner and had a very nice low key afternoon.

I have not seen much of Shealyn; she has attached herself to grandpa’s hip and is hanging on tight.  They’re going to try their hand at fishing tomorrow and see if they have any luck.  The kids, grandma and I are hoping to see Horton Hears a Who tomorrow.  Then tomorrow night Clark and I will be venturing out for the first round of house hunting.  Wish us luck.

Hope y’all had a Happy Easter and Ill try and catch up with you later.

Texas Bound

Today we leave for Texas for 2 weeks.  We’re taking off after the kids are done with school.   Wish us well as we are hoping to find a house while we’re down there and to have some much needed family time.    A new home to go to come June!  So, I’ll try and check in periodically.  Check in occasionally b/c I’m hoping to have some posts time stamped to pop up on their designated days!

To all of you that keep up with us via the blog have a very Blessed and Happy Easter.  And here’s hoping we come home to NO SNOW!!

Tonight was the night

After purchasing the tickets months ago tonight was the night for High School Musical On Ice.  I managed not to tell the kids until Monday night.  We had so much fun and as always I get more joy out of watching their reactions!  When I purchased the tickets I had planned on Clark going, well as we all know he’s in Texas so I took a dear friend of ours, Jessi.  She and her sister have babysat my kids for years.  It was nice to have another pair of helping hands with the kids.  Thanks Jess!

This was Payton’s first experience with any ice show and for it to be her favorite was just extra icing on the cake for her.  I teared up just watching the pure delight and awe on her face.  She was mesmerized by it all.  Tell me that she’s not excited!

Shealyn and Carter enjoyed it as well.  At various times I caught them all singing along (okay, I was too)!

As always, Disney did another great ice production!  Oh yeah, make sure you check out Best Shot Monday—I’m saving my favorite picture from tonight for Monday!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

My kids are on a mission to find a leprachaun and that elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!  Okay, not really a mission, but they sure are excited with anticipation that they might see one of those little green guys today or better yet a pot of gold.  However, their chances of seeing a rainbow are slim today.

They got themselves dressed in green today and I have to admit I just had to bite my tongue and let it go today.  I remember as a kid getting ready for St. Patrick’s Day and assembling all the green I could find.  Shealyn actually did very well, she left with a green shirt and a green vest and some other shade of green in her hair.  Carter, however came up with his own GREEN outfit for the day.  He wore his camouflage pants (which by the way have more brown in them than green) and a kelly green, navy and white shirt.  There was no way of convincing him any differently and to be quite honest with you it wasn’t worth the battle this morning.  Are you wearing green today?  I guess we could call this a day we can dress like a green bean or a pickle and be cool!  Happy St. Pat’s to all!

Just when I thought we had adjusted

Okay, all of us had a terrible time trying to adjust to the time change last week.  It was so hard forcing myself to get out of bed last week to get the kids ready for school.  The same went for them—-by the time I could coax them out of bed it usually only allowed for 30 minutes to get ready.  Needless to say, there were a lot of rushed days last week.  I thought for sure we’d all get some much needed sleep this weekend since we all had a hard time waking up all week.

I’m convinced there’s something programmed in Shealyn that when it’s a weekend she must get up earlier than she even would think about for school!  Many weekends she’s up before 7 and this week there was only a few minutes difference—she waited until 7:01!  Lucky Me!  Fortunately, she’s of an age where she can go to the living room by herself and read a book or maybe watch something on TV!  And if I’m lucky enough to not have too many interruptions I can catch another 30 minutes or so of rest.  Anyway, since we were all getting up without prompting this weekend I thought maybe our bodies had finally adjusted to the loss of 60 minutes last week.  Guess what?  Shealyn or Carter didn’t want to wake up this morning!  Uuuuggghhh!  If this keeps up for the rest of the school year it could be a long 7 weeks!

Today, there’s a new 6 year old in my house

My only boy, Mr. Carter, turns 6 today.  I kept thinking as I was sitting and watching TV last night how NOT comfortable I was 6 years ago at that time.  After a short, natural labor my boy entered the world at 3:10 am!  He was soooo big, yet so little to me.  He came into this world at 9lbs. 12 oz and 23 inches long.  I fell hopelessly in love with him (as I did with all my children).

And here we are 6 years later and he has brought so much joy to Clark and I.  He is bright, funny, easy going, loving, inquisitive, a chatterbox and all boy.  He has a great imagination, yet is so literal.  He reads my moods the best and melts my heart with his thoughfulness.  He gives the best fishy lip kisses and tells me that he will love me forever!  When I tell him girls are “gross”; he informs me I’m not.  He gets mad at me and tells me he doesn’t like me, but in his “own time” he gets over it and has forgiven me and likes me once again.  He is my favorite 6 year old in the whole world and is quick to remind me of that not to mention that I also have a favorite 8 and 3 year old, too!  Carter, you are my only boy and I love you today on your 6th birthday as I love you everyday!

Love, Mommy

Some of Shealyn’s writing

Shealyn has been working really hard on her writing in preparation for the MEAP which I’m not sure of the equivalent in Texas.  I thought I’d share some writing she’s done.  This particular one was about freedom.  First, she had to read Follow the Drinking Gourd and Rosa Parks.  Then she had to write a short essay on whether she agrees that people should be able to do whatever they need to gain freedom.  She had to tell why she agreed or disagreed and use examples from both texts to support her thinking.  Here is her essay (keep in mind she’s in 2nd grade and all the grammatics aren’t there).

I agree that it is okay to do whatever you need to do to get freedom.  In the story Rosa Parks she didn’t give up her bus seat so she went to jail.  So when the black people knew Rosa Parks was in jail all the black people started not to ride the bus anymore.  So when the black people didn’t ride the bus the bus didn’t get very much money.  When Rosa Parks got out of jail the law was changed.  When Rosa Parks got older she moved to Detroit.  Rosa Parks died in Detroit.

In the story Follow the Drinking Gourd a family of slaves ran away so they would stay together forever.  They didn’t want to be separated from each other so they traveled until they found the river where Peg Leg Joe was waiting for them to take them across the river.  On the way across the river Peg Leg Joe told them about a lot of safe houses which he called the Underground Railroad to take slaves to freedom so the slaves followed his directions to freedom.  I agree that it is okay to do whatever you need to do to get freedom.
