Every parent knows…

when it’s quiet you go searching, right?  Well, I had to do that with Payton last night.  She was in the bathroom with the door shut.  Before I even open the door I’m thinking of all the things she could be doing — but it was not near as bad as what I was thinking.  She had managed to get half of my panty liners out of their packaging.  This could have been so much worse.  Visions of them stuck all over the bathroom or jammed into the toilet come to mind, but she was completely content just taking them out of the wrapper and leaving them on the floor.   She even helped me clean it all up!

Totally cracking up right now

I’m listening to the kids sing in the bathtub right now.  They’re singing “Here Comes the Bride” (I’m assuming Dora must be marrying someone — since those are the bath toys right now).  But they’re adding their own words and making it much more amusing!

I’m pretty sure they’re combining some common vows “lawfully wed” into their song, but it’s coming out “awfully wed” :o )   Does anybody else want to fess up with me — I used to think it was “awfully wed” as well?

The TV survived

If you read my post from a couple of nights ago you might be happy to know the TV made it.  Apparently, it just needed overnight to dry out.  Whew!  I really didn’t want to have to get a new one (I know Clark — you were secretly wishing it wouldn’t work)!

Getting out the door this morning

It is never easy and I guess my error in thought this morning was that it would be easier b/c everyone was up in plenty of time.  I’ve decided Shealyn needs to be in the  bathroom by 7:30 to get her teeth brushed, hair done and whatever else she does in there.  God help me when both girls primp (sigh)!  She is the dawdler of the bunch.  Anyway,  she almost had a complete meltdown b/c she couldn’t find the brush.  We have 3 brushes in the house and I don’t use any of them so hmmmm should I have to keep track of them?  She had looked everywhere and was refusing to use the one (it has hard bristles) so I told her fine go to school w/o brushing her hair.  I wasn’t willing to battle this morning or go looking for the brush either.  But I did locate one under the couch that met her satisfaction — remember I told you she had looked EVERYWHERE!!  By that time I told her she would have to brush her hair in the van b/c it was time to go.

Then off to the breezeway to get shoes on and this seems to take another 5 minutes (boy do I wish she would have picked slip-ons or velcro).  She had a few miscellaneous items to get in her backpack that she insisted on doing —again I’m not going to fight it.  Anyway, Carter is getting his shoes on and can I tell you he has them both on before she even ties one!  He made a comment to her and she said, “Carter, don’t talk to me.”  And he came right back with, “you didn’t say please!”   Maybe the whole manner thing is paying off.  Well, P was already buckled in and Carter and I went to the van to wait on Shealyn.  She was out in less than 2 minutes.  She can do it quickly if she wants to, apparently she needs to think she made the decision herself.  Who would have thought my psychology minor would come into play so much in motherhood?

Anyway, they’re off and now it’s time to get P and myself ready for the day.  She looks so forward to her school days.  Forgive my ramblings, but I had to get this down while it was fresh in my mind.

3 year old kisses

Long gone are the sloppy baby kisses (I loved everyone of those that my kids blessed me with!) and now we’re onto 3 year old kisses.  Shealyn avoids kissing me as much as possible but insists at night after prayers that I kiss and hug her.  I’ll hang onto that as long as I can.  Carter still loves to kiss me even when dropping him off at school and I’m convinced that his actions sometimes guilt Shealyn into kissing me then, too.  Now to my 3 year old kissing machine and fortunately she keeps her smoochie sharing to  mom and dad.   She and I have this little game we play — I pucker up and she plants a big ole smooch on me that usually ends in giggles for both of us.   We are face to face and both of us have our eyes open and it is so sweet to see how big her eyes get and don’t forget we have the smoochie sound effects going, too —– mmmmmmmmm.  It’s a game to see who lasts the longest.  Usually P. is giggling so hard I end up kissing her teeth.  Oh Well! There will be a day when none of them want to kiss me so I’ll eat it up now.

Aaahhhh! Almost a catastrophe!

I was getting dinner ready tonight and Payton informed me that she had cleaned the TV for me.  Ummmm, with what I’m thinking.  I went to investigate and she had cleaned it with water — a spray bottle!  Not just a litte water either, there was a puddle of standing water next to the TV!  I was soooo mad (okay, mad at myself, too for letting her use it in the house)!  She’s been walking around with this bottle for 2 days and we’ve managed to keep her cleaning to the tub and sinks ( you know, places that are safe to have water sprayed on them).  The TV won’t turn on and it’s premiere week!  I’m a TV junkie when my kids go to bed.  So I was in a bit of a panic until I realized I could hook up the TV we have for strictly movies and video games out in the living room.  I guess one bright side to this is I got to dust UNDER my TV —-eeeewwww!  Admit it, it’s not a place you dust often either?  Not sure the TV’s going to make it (but P. will :o ) — anybody know any fixes?

5 working on 6

Losing teeth that is.  Shealyn lost her 5th tooth Sunday night — thanks to the good ole corn on the cob and a lot of wiggling on her part.  Number 6 is a little loose so that will come out soon, too I’m sure.

Crafty Tuesday

Yes, I have something to show today.  I went to a scrapbook weekend and let’s just say I got more accomplished than if I had been at home.   I went thinking I could get Payton’s first year done.  I was mistaken — I like to document way too much.  I got 14 total pages done (7 lay outs) which was good or just above the average of those around me.  There was a lot of eating, snacking, socializing to go along with the scrapbooking.  There was over 100 ladies there and nice prizes given away the whole weekend (unfortunately, I didn’t win any of the additional prizes).  Just imagine the money in product and tools between 100 plus ladies!!  I had tons of fun and would definitely love to do their spring crop.

Anyway, here is my favorite layout.  Payton is about 6 months old in this layout.  The big flower that is on the single picture page is actually something I learned from a make and take page project I did.  I punched out 6 circles and trifloded the circles and assembled them to look like a flower and stuck a button in the middle.  If you can see the edges of the flower I inked those to help it stand out more.  I used the circle punch again to use the background for the letters.  Two of the ladies with our group had a cricut so I used that to make my letters.

These pictures should enlarge some if you click on them.

The other page that I’m posting happens to be Clark’s favorite of what I did over the weekend.  Again I used the cricut to get the “grandparents” letters and I used some “I kandy” as centers on some of the flowers.

Best Shot Monday

I should probably change this to “Favorite” Shot Monday since I’m not much of a photographer.  Here is my favorite shot of the week.  Shealyn wanted to plant sunflowers this summer and shame on me I just never got around to getting the selected area ready for seeds (next year, Gert I promise!!).  Anyway, a lady that works with Virginia (my dad’s girlfriend) brought in one for her to give to Shealyn.  Needless to say it offers a bright yellow spot in our otherwise done for the season flower bed.  Here is the picture I took of Shealyn with her sunflower.  Shealyn is 51 inches so this picture also gives you an idea of how tall her sunflower is.

An entire weekend!!

Yes, I’m devoting an entire weekend to SCRAPBOOKING!!  Okay, I’m taking off for a few hours Saturday to go to my aunt and uncle’s 50th wedding anniversary, but really when have I had this many hours to scrapbook!  I’m doing a weekend crop here in town, but staying right on the premises.  It starts at 3:00 today and goes until 2:00 pm Sunday.  I should have a lot to share for Crafty Tuesday!  Have a Great Weekend and I’ll catch up with you later.
